HELEN'S PSYCHE

Inspired by the fragility, transience, and self destructive nature of the moth. The shadowy darkness of this often disliked creature is a potent image of an unassuming beauty that is contrasted by its passionate and all-consuming attraction to the light.

This work was made for Craft Council Nederland's exhibition at Dutch Design Week after a five week embroidery masterclass taught by Martine van 't Hul and Desirée Hamman.

It was made using yarn I hand-spun at Wålsteads Ullspinneri, DMC embroidery cotton, pine cones, beads, sequence, ribbon, and various fabrics.
